This was actually a kitchen in a fairly new house.  It just didn't work very well.  Also, the cabinets were the builder's idea of what kitchen cabinets should be - mostly, cheap.  The restructured kitchen is not only beautiful to look at, but it's fun to work in.  The huge island serves their family, well.
